In spring 2014 a labour law dispute arose, which has been drawn the attention of Austrian media. A famous Viennese restaurant has dismissed an employee, because he has put some employer’s sugar on his own strawberries.
08/20/2014New rule regarding expatriation
Through the change of definition of “employer” for international expatriates, the 183-days-period-rule doesn’t apply anymore. As a consequence, an employee from abroad can be already subject to taxation in Austria with his first working day.
